In Henderson, you get
a sense of community
Just south of Las Vegas is the suburb of Henderson, which
from 1999-2002 was the fastest growing city in North America.
Along with it came a growing golf scene.
"It's growing and becoming more and more of a golf destination,"
says Dan Romstead, Director of Sales at Lake Las Vegas in Henderson.
"The beauty of Henderson is there is a little more community
[than Las Vegas] and there is a lot of great golf within Henderson.
You don't have to stay in the hustle an bustle of the 'strip'."
Lake Las Vegas Resort is virtually a golf destination onto
itself, with its Jack Nicklaus designed
Reflection Bay course, the newly opened Tom
Weiskopf designed Falls
Golf Club, a Hyatt Regency and a luxurious Ritz Carlton
hotel.
Henderson also fits a variety of budgets, according to Romstead.
Golfers looking to find a bargain are in luck, as well as golfers
who are looking for the glitz and glamour found closer to the
strip.
The
Revere at Anthem is set in the towns foothills and sports
an 18-hole layout from Billy Casper and Greg Nash with a Revolutionary
War theme.
Rio Secco, the Legacy Golf Club, the venerable Black Mountain
Golf and Country Club and Dragon Ridge Golf and Country Club
round out Henderson's rapidly growing honor roll.
Henderson is roughly 20 miles south of the heart of Las Vegas.
To get to Henderson from Vegas it is a straight shot on I-95
and a mere 5-iron east. Golfers who make the short drive south
will discover Henderson is a more relaxed and less busy complement
to its bustling sibling to the north.
